Football IQ
Scan before receiving
Does the player scan the space and decide what to do next?
Star Growth System
Goals and results are part of football. We also notice how players observe, choose, handle challenges and support teammates. Star Points recognise that effort and progress, while coach feedback turns it into the next training goals.

Illustrative example: a Junior Rangers 3v3 game. This shows how a coach can observe and respond; it is not an individual player's recorded session.
Scan before receiving
Does the player scan the space and decide what to do next?
Recover quickly after losing the ball
Does the player stay involved and work to defend again?
Communicate with teammates
Does clear communication help a teammate make a choice?
Try a skill from training
Does the player try to use learning in the game, even when it does not work yet?
Recognise scanning, recovery, communication and trying a skill, so the player knows what to keep doing.
For example: you saw your teammate before receiving; next time, also try checking the opponent behind you.
In the next 3v3, try checking behind before receiving, then choose a pass or turn. The coach observes and follows up.
Effort and teamwork deserve recognition. Let every session and match leave a record of growth.

Receiving under pressure and scanning before receiving.
Shows good awareness in small-sided games and is beginning to transfer training habits into match situations. Next, keep scanning before receiving when an opponent applies pressure.
We are developing the links between Star Points, match observations, coach feedback, player profiles, reports and development plans, helping families explore the TFS Pathway at the right stage. Ask the coach about current recording and feedback arrangements.
